Animal Model Generation
Target Validation via Transgenenic Animal Models
InSymbiosis can produce transgenic animals that can be used by the client in target validation where the phenotype of the animal is studied as well as for the in vivo testing of developmental drugs.
Pronuclear Microinjection (PN)
Microinjection into the pronucleus (PN) involves the mechanical introduction of a purified double stranded DNA sequence into the pronucleus of a fertilized mammalian oocyte leading to integration of the transgene into the existing genetic sequence.
Custom Gene Targeting: Generation of KnockOut/KnockIn Mice
Tageting of specific genes in embryonic stem cells followed by the generation of knockOut (KO) and knockIn (KI) mice allows precise modification in the mouse genome. Modifications include loss of function, replacement, subtle mutation and conditional mutations of a target gene.
InSymbiosis can perform the whole process from targeting vector generation to production of homozygous mice or parts thereof. Our experts will design and implement custom strategies to the creation of a successful transgenic program within often stringent timelines.
Cryopreservation
In order to protect against loss of valuable, unique mouse stocks through breeding failure or disease and to eliminate the cost of maintaining mouse lines not actively in use, InSymbiosis offers embryo and sperm cryopreservation.
Line Rederivation
Mouse lines in danger of loss to disease or other factors can be rederived. The service includes mating of the diseased males with wild type females, harvesting of resulting embryos and transfer to a clean recipient female.
Phenotyping
InSymbiosis can provide phenotyping services in bone phenotyping, behavioral phenotyping, as well as cardiovascular, infectious disease, asthma, and pain profiles.
Histology and Pathology
InSymbiosis provides histological (routine and special stains) and immunohistological services, as well as computerized image processing and storage. Tissue preparation for Electron Microscopic (EM) analysis can also be performed. Finally, assistance in experimental design, development and interpretation of tests and results can be provided by our pathology service.
Other supporting services offered by InSymbiosis include cytogenetics, spectral karotyping (SKY), microdissection and bioimaging.
